Stop! Before you text your password to your social media manager, read this.
At Webneuro, we take digital security seriously. One of the most common mistakes business owners make is sharing their personal Facebook login credentials with agencies or employees.
Not only is this a security risk, but Facebook also hates it. Logging in from different locations can flag your account for suspicious activity and get you locked out of your own business page.
The good news? Meta Business Suite allows you to grant secure access to your team or agency without ever sharing your password. Here is the Webneuro guide to managing permissions the right way.
The “Too Long; Didn’t Read” Summary
- For Agencies (like Webneuro): Use the “Partner” method.[1][2] This connects your business to our agency account cleanly.
- For Employees: Use the “People” method.[1] This invites them via email to work on your assets.[1][3]
- Instagram is linked: Usually, access to your Facebook Page automatically grants access to the connected Instagram account.[4]
- Stay the Admin: Never make someone else the only admin. You must always retain “Full Control.”
Method 1: How to Add Webneuro (The “Partner” Method)
Best for: Giving access to an agency like Webneuro for SEO, Ads, or Content.
This is the professional standard. It links your business to ours without mixing up personal profiles.
Prerequisite: You must know your agency’s Business ID.[1][5][6][7]
(Note to Clients: Webneuro’s Business ID is: [Insert Your ID Here])
- Go to Business Settings:
Log into business.facebook.com and click the Settings (gear icon).[8] You may need to select “Business Settings” from the menu.[1][8] - Find Partners:
On the left sidebar, under Users, click Partners.[8] - Add Partner:
Click the blue Add button and select “Give a partner access to your assets.”[6][9] - Enter ID:
Paste the Partner Business ID provided by Webneuro and click Next. - Assign Assets:
- Pages: Select your Facebook Business Page.[5][9] Toggle on “Everything” (or specific tasks like Content, Ads, Insights).
- Instagram Accounts: Select your Instagram profile and toggle permissions.[5]
- Ad Accounts: If we are running ads, select your Ad Account and grant access.
- Save:
Click Save Changes.[1][6] We will receive a notification and can start working immediately.
Method 2: How to Add an Employee (The “People” Method)
Best for: Hiring an internal social media manager or receptionist.
- Go to Business Settings:
Navigate to Users > People.[1][3] - Invite User:
Click the blue Invite People button. - Enter Email:
Type the employee’s work email address. - Choose Access Level:
- Basic Access (Employee): Best for staff who just need to post content or reply to comments.
- Full Control (Admin): Only give this to trusted business partners. They have the power to delete the page.[3]
- Assign Assets:
Just like the Partner method, select the specific Pages and Instagram accounts they are allowed to work on.[3][4] - Send Invite:
They will receive an email from Meta.[1][10] Once they accept, they are in!
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
“I don’t see my Instagram account.”
If your Instagram isn’t showing up in the asset list, it might not be connected to your Business Manager yet.
- Fix: Go to Accounts > Instagram accounts in the left sidebar and click Add.[4][5] You will need to log in to Instagram once to connect it.[4][10]
“I can’t access Business Settings.”
You might be looking at the simplified “Meta Business Suite” dashboard.
- Fix: Look for a “Settings” gear icon at the bottom left.[8] If you see a menu that says “Business Assets,” look for a link that says “More business settings”—this usually takes you to the advanced backend where you can manage partners.
“How do I remove someone?”
If an employee leaves, revoke access immediately to protect your brand.
- Go to Users > People.[1][3][4]
- Click on their name.[2][11]
- Click the three dots (…) or the Remove button.
- Confirm removal. They will instantly lose access to all assets.
